Ana + Austin // Terrace Club Wedding
These sweet middle school band directors had a classic, beautiful wedding with an outdoor ceremony looking over hill country. The Terrace Club is a great venue in terms of having everything in one small area without it feeling too small. There's still space for everything you want to do, and it's in a great spot somewhere between rustic and modern.
A lot of their friends in the wedding party were people they knew from school (they both went to Texas State) or people in the band and it was great. I loved that Ana's maid of honor played the flute as she came down the aisle.
Between the ceremony and the reception, Ana and Austin made time for sunset photos and they turned out great. In 2018, I think I'm really going to emphasize the importance of post-ceremony photos. I don't always have time to do them at every wedding, but when I have time and the couple has time they usually end up being the favorites.
They sent me a few ideas for group photos beforehand, which is always great. Most couples don't send me ideas, but I definitely welcome it if they do because sometimes there are certain things outside of what I would normally do that turn out amazing.
In their case, they wanted to do a photo where they stood in one spot and had all of the wedding party come running up behind them as they were kissing. I tried the same photo at Rachel and Blaire's wedding the next day and it was different than what I've done in the past but really fun! I'm glad they recommended it and I'll probably do it again.
At the reception, they did all the typical wedding things-- first dances, speeches, all of the good stuff. They also did the Shoe Game, which I had never heard of before, where the bride and groom sit back to back and someone asks them questions about each other. They each trade shoes and answer. It's kind of like the newlywed game, with funny questions.
Ana and Austin are the sweetest, and their wedding was as lovely as they are. Scroll down to look through photos of their incredible day (some of my favorites are the ones of Ana with her mom and grandmother).
