Bridal Sessions // Laguna Gloria

I haven't done a lot of bridal sessions, just because people don't ask for them much, but I would like to do more! A lot of salons offer a free run through of your hair and makeup before the wedding, so if you're getting bridals done you'll typically get them done that day.

This year, I photographed two bridal sessions at Laguna Gloria at The Contemporary Austin, one with Ana (check out her engagement session here) and one with Jessica (check out her wedding here). Laguna Gloria is pretty affordable, beautiful, clean, and bright, so it's a great spot for photos.

Ana and her aunt met me at Laguna Gloria and then we went to the Whole Foods on 6th. She wanted something a little more Austin, and they have these really big letters that say ATX. We also took some photos with just the AT, her future initials, which was cute.

Jessica was actually the first bridal session I've done in Austin. For her photos, we stayed at Laguna Gloria. Her sister is actually a makeup artist, so she helped do her get ready that day and then came with her for the session. It was really nice to meet her before the wedding because since we didn't do an engagement session and she doesn't live in Austin, I hadn't gotten a chance to meet her yet.

It's always great to get to know someone's vibe, what they like, what they're comfortable doing, and what photos they prefer of themselves before the wedding. It's always interesting to me how different my favorite photos are from my client's favorites!

For bridals, I definitely recommend bringing someone like your mom or a bridesmaid with you. There's a lot to carry and it's just nice to have someone with you to help keep you calm and relaxed while people are inevitably staring at you in your wedding dress in public on a random day.

I would love to do more bridal sessions somewhere a little more industrial or even at wedding venues. I know some venues are willing to give you time before the wedding because there's no cleanup required and all they have to do is let you on the property.
