Erin + Greg // Schenectady Fall Wedding
I shot Erin and Greg's engagement photos at the Blanton Museum and Sekrit Theater in Austin, and we really hit it off. So I was excited to make the trip up to Schenectady, New York to shoot their wedding a few weeks ago. And as you'll see, it didn't disappoint!
It was one of those fun weddings with a lot of travelers. Greg is from Schenectady, but they live in Dallas so a lot of their Dallas folks came up and were ready for a great time.
This was my first time in New York outside of NYC and I was honestly blown away by how beautiful it was. We were there just in time for the gorgeous fall foliage, and there are all these lovely historic homes lining the streets. After New York, we headed to Cape Cod for another wedding-- which was equally amazing and we just ate tons of lobster, clam chowder, and lobster rolls.
The morning of their wedding, Mark and I started the day off right at this wonderful place downtown called Ambition Coffee and Eatery with all these amazing records all over the wall-- Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, Cher. If you know me, you know that I loved it!
The wedding was at a small downtown restaurant, Aperitivo Bistro. Downtown Schenectady is small, old, and incredibly beautiful. They both got ready at hotels nearby-- Erin at the Parker Inn and Greg at the Hampton Inn. Parker Inn is an old hotel in a great spot with great light. The elevator ended up going out, so everyone just stayed up there on the top floor until the very last moment we had to leave.
Erin and Greg's family and friends were so ready to party and celebrate them, and they were just so happy.
They worked with a videographer, Josh, who was really just amazing. Kind, easy to work with, and super talented. I hope he posts some of the video clips to Instagram because I'm sure they turned out fantastic and I want to see them!
We didn't spend too much time on formal portraits so they could get back to enjoying the wedding, but the time we did spend was magical. This cute little street with lots of little shops, Jay Street, was closed off and there happened to be a band playing classic oldies songs. Erin and Greg kissed in the middle of the intersection, danced for the band, and ran across the street with everyone watching.
It was incredible. It felt like Ferris Bueller's Day Off-- like we were in a movie about a wedding.
You won't want to miss these photos. Scroll through the photos below and get a glimpse into their incredible day. Special thanks to my amazing second shooter, Shawnee Custalow!
Whether your wedding is in New York, Texas, or somewhere in between, let's talk about how I can take photos of it that you'll love for a lifetime.
