Heather + Charles // Chapel Dulcinea Wedding

Heather and Charles are a sweet couple living in Virginia. They met in college at Virginia Tech in 2008 when she was pledging the business fraternity he was in, but didn't start dating until after college. They're great together because they're different enough that they balance each other out, and they make each other laugh constantly.

They came down to Austin to have a little vacation and get married, so their Chapel Dulcinea wedding was super tiny-- just me, the officiant, and them.

I helped Heather figure out the timeline for the wedding and we talked about everything she wanted to do with the amount of time she had. I met them at their Airbnb where a friend of mine, makeup artist and hair stylist Erica Gray, was doing their hair and makeup. I took photos of them getting ready, her amazing navy velvet shoes, and we headed over to Chapel Dulcinea.

Because it was just the two of them, the day was super flexible and they could go at their own speed. The officiant, Katrina at Spoken Heart Ceremonies, was great and she's in basically every wedding in Austin. She's such a pro and she's just really good at it.

After the ceremony, they had cupcakes and champagne and we took photos all around Chapel Dulcinea. I love when we have time to walk around the property at Chapel Dulcinea because there's so much there. I've done so many weddings there but there are still different ways and places to take the photos. For Heather and Charles, we went inside this small adobe colored patio and over to a little truck on the grounds that they loved.

Then, we went downtown for more Austin-y photos. They wanted to get some photos in front of Austin's best murals and famous walls, so we went to the blue tile wall downtown and the Austin postcard wall. After that, we headed back to their Airbnb and since it was surrounded by all these beautiful bamboo trees I asked if I could get some pictures of them there.

A lot of Austin hill country is super dry with lots of cedars, so having something a little different like bamboo and lush jungle greens was really nice. It was so hot, they said yes and those photos are some of my favorites. I love it when I find unplanned and totally beautiful spots, by surprise.

Heather and Charles are super sweet and they had a great time. Afterward, they went to eat barbecue because that is what you do here! Unless you're living that plant based life. Scroll down to look through some of my favorite shots from the day.
