Betty Alida Jewelry // Small Business Photography
I knew of Jen, the owner of local jewelry brand Betty Alida, through a few different people for a long time but didn't really know her until I went up to her at Renegade Craft Fair a while ago and started talking. She was super cool, friendly and back then she was closer to the start of her journey with Betty Alida.
We didn't really talk much until late fall of last year, when she got in touch wanting to put together photos for Betty Alida. Of course, I said yes, so we met for coffee and talked about what exactly she was looking for. We went over Pinterest boards and we talked about exactly what she liked about the photos so I could have a better understanding of what she wanted. It's always so great to be able to sit down with someone and talk about why they like what they like, to see what they're seeing and figure out what would work well for their brand.
Like with most of my small business shoots, we tried to keep this shoot as DIY as possible, without it looking DIY. We did it at my house, with two amazing local models, fashion blogger Adriana and Sanetra, founder of Unravel Co. I thought their looks would be great contrast, and they were. They were both so much fun and so easy to work with, and it just felt like hanging out with friends.
I loved being able to spend more time with them because when you're out at events meeting people there's not a lot of time to get deep into who they are and what they're about. So spending a few hours talking with these amazing ladies and getting to know them more was just awesome.
The photos turned out great and Jen loved them. I love them too, and I love that Jen trusted me to make sure everything she wanted to happen happened. The jewelry itself is intricate, beautiful, and thoughtful, and if you're looking for a gift for a special occasion, it's perfect. I have a few of her earrings and always wear them when I'm about to do something ~fancy~. She's stocked several places in Austin and around the country but you can also pick up something directly from her website.
